Inspiration

This piece was written for the six superb singers of the Jazzation a cappella jazz ensemble. It is an ode to the Tequila composed in the popular genre but based on a strict form and contrapuntal structure.

Drink Tequila, it's the ultimate beverage; sing: Tequila tastes much better than the average! Are you fed up with Pepsi Coke? It's time to travel to Mexico! To Jalisco, home of the blue agave, - which is named after a guy called not Carl, but Franz Weber! - it's the place where they ripen fine in the Mexican sunshine... Watch the agave grow one hundred in a row; you can't have ever seen such a beautiful scene! And when the magueys all have reached the state of ripeness - oh, yes! - they're finally harvested by ji-ji-jimadores! Then the piñas are smashed into an even masssh which is called the musto. Now prepare your gusto! Fermented and distilled twice, oh baby, it's so nice! Then you may wanna try also the generic mezcal: it's for everything bad as hell, and for everything good, as well! And there's a worm - so tasteful! - in the bottle: - which is full - con gusano! But let's return to Tequila, specifically to its consumption. It's recommended to listen to this song while drinking your glass of Tequila. To fully enjoy it, pick a caballito, some salt and a slice of lime, then perform the following steps: lick, sip, bite!
